What we remove and treat
From a simple extraction to an impacted wisdom tooth
The dentist decides on the scope of the procedure after an examination and an X-ray, and for impacted teeth often after a CT scan. Below are the most common procedures and prices.
Remove or save?
Extraction is not the only option. Sometimes a tooth can be saved with root canal treatment or an apicoectomy. When extraction is necessary, the dentist discusses straight away how and when the gap can be filled – for example with an implant. Dental implants at LumiDent

When is a tooth removed
Extraction is usually considered when:
- the tooth is decayed and cannot be rebuilt
- a wisdom tooth is growing crooked, hurts or causes inflammation
- the tooth has a vertical crack through the root
- the tooth needs to be removed before orthodontic treatment or an implant
The procedure may need preparation when:
- there is acute inflammation – sometimes the procedure is postponed until it settles
- you take anticoagulants or have a chronic illness – this needs to be agreed with your doctor
- the tooth can still be saved with root canal treatment or an apicoectomy

How much does wisdom tooth removal cost?
Wisdom tooth removal costs 1 000 / 1 300 PLN (uncomplicated / surgical). An impacted tooth lying right next to the mandibular canal or the maxillary sinus – 3 500 PLN. The dentist decides on the scope of the procedure after an X-ray or CT scan.
Does tooth extraction hurt?
The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, so during it you usually feel only pressure. For a few days afterwards there may be pain and swelling – the dentist will tell you which painkillers to take.

Does every wisdom tooth need to be removed?
No. Wisdom teeth that have come through properly, can be cleaned and cause no problems are often left in place. The dentist decides on removal based on an examination and an X-ray.
How long does healing take after tooth extraction?
After a simple extraction the discomfort usually passes within a few days. After removal of an impacted wisdom tooth, swelling may last up to about a week. Check-up and stitch removal – usually after 7–10 days.
What is dry socket?
It is a complication in which the blood clot in the socket breaks down or does not form. It shows up as increasing pain a few days after the procedure. Following the aftercare instructions, especially not smoking, lowers the risk. If needed, the dentist places a dressing (100 PLN).
What can be done about the gap after a removed tooth?
The gap can be filled with an implant, a bridge or a denture. The dentist discusses the options before the extraction to plan treatment – sometimes it is worth preserving the bone for a future implant straight away.
Can I be treated under the NFZ (Polish public health insurance)?
LumiDent is a private clinic; procedures are paid according to the price list. You learn the cost before the procedure. If you have private insurance that covers dental treatment, on request we will issue a document confirming the procedures and payment so you can claim a refund from your insurer.
